Austin, Texas

After spending the weekend at Pat O'Bryan's Unseminar4, I have been implementing the ideas and strategies I learned (ok, re-learned for most, but that's another story) and I have hit a proverbial wall.  Building my web pages.

I know I can hire it out, but I want the knowledge for myself; I want to be able to say, "I built that!" ... so hiring it out isn't really a viable option at this point in time.

So I am going to play here for awhile and see if I like it.  So far, so good.

I used to build simple web pages using pure html (remember when home pages were set up in tables and you could see the blocks used to separate print?  And everybody was trying to find the most colorful, or animated lines and borders and banners?  Yeah, me too.  I used the old Netscape Composer that came bundled in my Netscape Browser, so that was the first thing I wanted to find.

Guess What?  It's not there.  Bad Word.  Well, it's "there" but the old version of Netscape I'd have to download and use won't run on VISTA, which is the OS on my HP Pavillion dv9000. (Yes, I'd rather have a MacBook, but let's make some money to pay for it first, shall we?)

My next choice was the HTML editor at CoffeeCup.com.  I was willing to purchase it, but I wanted to make sure it would run on my machine before I handed over any more hard-earned cash.  BUT ... even after 2 downloads, it wouldn't run on VISTA.  I don't know if it's because I tried the trial verson, or if it just doesn't run on VISTA (it says it should), and I was too tired at that point to continue.

So here it is, Wednesday morning -- I only have until Friday night to get as much done as I can; I'm flying home on Saturday and then I'll be lucky to find an  hour a day to get this snowball up that hill.

This looks like a pretty easy way to make a web page, but I don't think it's going to work for my ultimate website -- these pages are probably not going to be transportable to my actual web host. But it's good practice.

In the meantime, here's a link to the best snack I've found and the easiest online business I've got.  Jerky Direct, now known as JD Premium Products has the best jerky I've ever eaten.  Check out my store and get yourself some all natural, no hormones used jerky at a price comparable to the grocery store.  If you like it (and I'll be really surprised if you don't) take a look at how easy the business is to operate.  You don't have to be a slave to your website -- you can just  share the jerky and get the commmission check.  It really is that easy.

Now back to the snowball.  Oh, if you'd like to find a safe, comfortable, easy to use place to meet people, try SMALLGROUPFRIENDS.COM -- you could win a prize, check out their contest.

Tootles til Later!
